Scotmid Co-operative has unveiled a new butcher counter within its store in Broxburn, in a move which further extends the convenience retailer’s partnerships with Scottish businesses.

The Butchery Broxburn, which has opened to meet growing customer demand for fresh, high quality meats and meat products, is run by Border Meats. The business was selected by Scotmid for its excellent reputation in providing locally sourced, ethically farmed beef, lamb and pork – and its ability to trace all its products direct from farm to fork.

The family-run business, which is based in Lockerbie and run by the Carlisle family, has a long-standing history of farming in the area and operates with animal welfare at its heart. Fully accredited by Quality Meat Scotland, it provides home grown beef and lamb – with pork sourced from a nearby farm, bred to the same high standards. Customers can choose from a broad range of top-quality products, with the knowledge and confidence that they are buying the very best of Scottish produce for their plate.

The launch follows the successful opening of a butcher counter in Scotmid’s Uddingston store earlier in the year and comes as a response by the convenience retailer to continue innovating and expanding its offering in line with shifting consumer demands.

A key focus of the new butcher offering is a state-of-the-art dry age cabinet, home to a range of excellent quality dry age steaks, which will be on display for customers to select from.

Customers can also choose from a selection of more than 350 products, from staple favourites such as topside and silverside as well as cuts including rolled belly pork, chump chops and pork supremes, beef haggis olives, tomahawk steaks and brisket.
