Lidl’s in with Scottish gin

Lidl’s Scottish Gin Festival kicks off today (21 May).

The retailer said the event will contribute over £300,000 to Scotland’s craft gin industry.

Listings for distillers including BrewDog and Spirits of Virtue will help artisan Scottish businesses to expand their reach and give customers nationwide the chance to try their products.

From classic London dry style to fruit flavoured, Lidl’s Scottish Gin Festival showcases a collection of spirits including Esker Scottish Raspberry Gin and CeroCero Citrus Non-Alcoholic Botanical Spirit.

The festival sees some craft gins hit LIdl’s shelves for the first time, including Shetland Reel Ocean Sent – a unique gin inspired by the seas that surround the Shetland islands and flavoured with native bladderwrack seaweed. The gin’s producer – Saxa Vord Distillery on the island of Unst – has also secured a UK-wide listing with the retailer.
