Single malt brand Glenglassaugh has been named as headline sponsor of the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival for the next two years.

The festival, which celebrates its 31st anniversary this year, is held annually in the village of Portsoy, just two miles along the A98 from Glenglassaugh Distillery.

The two-year deal is a step up for the distillery, which was a maritime sponsor of the event in 2023.

The festival attracts more than 12,000 visitors annually, who drop anchor for a weekend of live music, dancing, and Scottish food and drink, set against a backdrop of Scotland’s premier heritage boats.

Last year’s sponsorship meant the festival could show the 120-year-old Fifie Sailing Herring Drifter, Reaper, which had made the voyage from the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Fife.

The latest deal follows Glenglassaugh’s 2023 relaunch, which saw it unveil three new whiskies – including the richly peated Portsoy.

This was followed by the release of The Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection earlier this year, which features old and rare whiskies aged more than 48 years.

The 2024 Scottish Traditional Boat Festival takes place from 22 to 23 June.
