Single Malts of Scotland has brought seven new bottlings to the market, comprising three Reserve Casks and four A Marriage Of Casks.

Reserve Casks Parcel 11

The Reserve Casks are a flavour-led exploration of single malts in small batches of three to 10 casks. Bottled at a consistent 48% with no added colour and no chill filtration, the Reserve Casks are intended to suit the palates of both novices and experts alike.

  1. Ardmore Distillery (RSP £69.95): A small batch of three ex-Laphroaig barrels and three refill barrels from Ardmore Distillery has been used to create this Highland single malt, distilled in 2009 and aged for 13 years. The distillery creates a balanced spirit with spice, fudge and smoke.
  2. Caol Ila Distillery (RSP £65.95): A small batch of four refill butts from Caol Ila Distillery has been used for this single malt, distilled in 2012 and aged for 11 years. Caol Ila has a reputation for producing smoky, maritime whiskies of elegance and poise.
  3. An Orkney Distillery RSP (£65.95): A small batch of three Oloroso sherry butts from an Orkney distillery has been used to create this Highland Single Malt, distilled in 2012 and aged for 11 years. This Orcadian distillery is well known for its distinctive heather-like peat smoke, creating a rich and characterful single malt.

A Marriage Of Casks

The Marriage series gives whisky enthusiasts a chance to experience the complexity and richness that only the finest casks can provide.

  1. A Speyside Distillery (RSP £325): A marriage of whiskies from 1992, matured in three barrels for a total of 806 bottles. The taste is reminiscent of sweet freshly made pastries with apples and pears. The unknown origins of this complex 31-year-old Speyside single malt allows consumers to enjoy it without any preconceptions and has them wondering which distillery it hails from.
  2. An Islay Distillery (RSP £400): A marriage of whiskies from 1990 to 1991, matured in three casks – two American oak refill barrels and a refill sherry butt – which yielded 1,241 bottles. From an undisclosed distillery, this is an old-fashioned, smoky 30-year-old Islay single malt with spice and tropical hints.
  3. Imperial Distillery (RSP £850): This is a marriage of whiskies from 1995, matured in three American oak refill barrels that yielded a total of 198 bottles. The Imperial distillery closed its doors in 1998 and was eventually demolished in 2013. Its whisky is increasingly hard to find, with its supple, elegant, fruity style much sought after.
  4. Ardmore Distillery (RSP £215): This is a marriage of whiskies from 1997, matured in three hogsheads for a total of 772 bottles. Ardmore creates a balanced spirit with spice, fudge and smoke.
