Cauliflower power: Tracey Hogarth celebrates Scotmid listing

Nudie Snacks’ Cauliflower Katsu Curry Crisps has been selected as a winning product in Scotmid’s Scottish Favourites competition and will appear on shelves, alongside the Cheese & Caramelised Onion flavour, for three weeks from Wednesday 3 May.

The news came as no surprise to us here at the SRDFAs; Cauliflower Crisps is a finalist in our upcoming awards, which will be presented on 25 May at the Radisson blu in Glasgow.

Founded in 2016, Kilmarnock-based Nudie Snacks specialises in creating sustainably made products, by turning wonky veg into plant-based snacks that are lower in fat than traditional potato crisps. These are vegan-friendly and ideal for gluten- and dairy-free diets.

Tracey Hogarth, founder of Nudie Snacks, said: “We are thrilled to be listed as a Scotmid Favourites competition winner and to secure vital shelf space for our products. We’re extremely proud of our unique twist on the traditional crisp; Nudie Snacks aren’t just delicious, they also have excellent sustainability credentials. We can’t wait to hear what Scotmid customers think!”

Nudie Snacks, was one of five Scottish producers to win the Scotmid’s Scottish Favourites competition, run in conjunction with Scotland Food & Drink, which aims to highlight some of the very best regional products with broad consumer appeal.

Jessica van Tromp, Local Sourcing Manager at Scotmid, said: “Our judging panel loved the bold flavours and unique texture of these snacks; they couldn’t believe they contained cauliflower! We launched the Scottish Favourites Awards to find exciting products and brands and Nudie Snacks impressed on both of these. I can’t wait to see the products in our stores.”

Nudie Snacks Katsu Curry and Cheese and Caramelised Onion flavour Cauliflower Crisps will be available to customers in 113 Scotmid stores from Wednesday 3 May.
