With summer just around the corner, Aldi has announced a partnership with Scottish ice cream maker Equi’s.

Equi’s will supply two new flavours – Scottish Double Cream with Madagascan Vanilla and Scottish Isles Sea Salt and Caramel – and both will be sold under Aldi’s Specially Selected label.

The multi-award-winning Scottish Isles Sea Salt and Caramel is made from natural ingredients from the waters of Loch Snizort. The salt, which is the first to be made on the Isle of Skye for 300 years, is the only sea salt in the UK made by using just the sun and the wind.

The Scottish Double Cream with Madagascan Vanilla is made with ingredients sourced from Lanarkshire dairy farms as well as natural bourbon vanilla from Madagascar.

Graham Nicolson, Group Buying Director for Aldi Scotland, said: “Leading up to the summer months, it’s fantastic to have partnered with a great Scottish brand like Equi’s that is held in such high regard for the mix of history, passion and innovation that goes into its ice cream.

“At Aldi, our commitment to local suppliers is unwavering and we are thrilled to offer the very best of Scottish produce and we’re certain these new traditional flavours will be a hit with our customers across the country.”

Equi’s boss David Equi added: “We are extremely proud of our Scottish roots and a partnership with Aldi, who lead the way with local sourcing here in Scotland, made perfect sense.”

Priced at £1.99 per 500ml, both the Scottish Isles Sea Salt and Caramel and Scottish Double Cream with Madagascan Vanilla are available from all of Aldi’s 91 Scottish stores.
